I am a Professor of Strategic Management & Public Policy and serve as the Vice Dean for Faculty and Research at the George Washington University School of Business, where I teach the strategic management capstone courses in the undergraduate, MBA, and World Executive MBA program, as well as PhD seminars on strategic management and social networks. I am the recipient of several teaching awards, such as the Peter B. Vaill Outstanding Doctoral Educator Award, the Outstanding World Executive MBA Faculty Award, the Outstanding Undergraduate Faculty Award, and the Dean’s Teaching Award.

I received my doctorate in strategic management from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, was a visiting researcher at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Stern School of Business at New York University. My research interests include strategy formulation and implementation processes, knowledge/technology transfer, social networks, and social capital. I have published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal. My latest book, “Reconceptualizing organizational control: Managing in the age of hybrid workplaces, artificial intelligence, and the gig economy,” is published by Cambridge University Press.

I have served as associate editor of the Journal of Management and on the editorial board of the Journal of Management Studies and have held elected and appointed positions at the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society

Prior to entering academia, I worked in corporate finance and strategic management consulting.
